kelly coming up with all kinds of excuses just in case nick asks why he isn’t in the other bed.

• the heating could break and they could freeze to death if they are sleeping alone
• he doesn’t have enough blankets in there because nick is a blanket hog (they both know this isn’t true)
• he thinks the window is broken in there because it’s obnoxiously cold (it’s not broken)
• the guest room has hardwood floors while nick’s room has carpeting and how could nick expect him to subject his poor little toes to a cold floor while nick has warm carpet (they both know kelly likes to sleep with socks on in winter but choose to ignore it)
• nick’s room is closer to a bathroom

the list goes on and on.

but nick doesn’t ask. he just curls up next to kelly and falls into a deep sleep.

eventually kelly doesn’t even have to say anything. he just shuffles into the doorway of nick’s room and nick automatically rolls over to make room for him.
